In Rome, in 2011 about two hundred people, seventy families, occupy a former sausage factory (Fiorucci), abandoned in 1978, in Via Prenestina. They are people of different ethnicities: Romani, Italians, Romanians, Peruvians, North Africans, Eritreans, Somalis. Together they engage to build a mestizo city starting from the indispensable infrastructures. Activists, organized groups for the right to housing, support them and help protect this place. Street artists begin to make works on the walls of the building. Since 2011, the inhabitants of the Metropoliz have been living together peacefully integrated with each other. Irregular immigration, abusive occupation deny to the inhabitants of the Metropoliz most of rights, like the access to public health. A sentence of the court of Rome obliged the municipality to compensate the ownership of the property. The ruling put Metropoliz at the top of the list of evictions.
