On the outskirts of Mexico City a vibrant Carnival is celebrated annually, transforming the streets for several weeks where families and friends come together to honor their traditions while incorporating contemporary elements into music and costumes, creating an atmosphere full of life and color: Tlaltenco’s Carnival.
Tlaltenco’s Carnival features parades, parades floats, music bands, and dancers in traditional costumes and others not so much, offering a unique visual and auditory spectacle for all the families and children who come out to the streets to watch and participate in this celebration.
This event is an example of how traditions can coexist with modernity, the Carnival strengthens social bonds, allowing residents to reaffirm their identity and sense of belonging.
