This is a body of work that has gestated over a long period of time and with a great many influences.
When I was young I used to observe my surroundings, noticing the minute details everyone overlooked.
It was only much later when I finally picked up a camera I began to record those details religiously.
Having given photography a great deal of thought over the years, I considered the fact that we tend to take photographs of important events in our lives. However I have always been more fascinated by the unimportant.
Later on I came across a term whilst watching a show called Urban Gothic that I felt encapsulated this work very well; Lacuna.
The following is a quote from a character from that show:
“Lacuna are gaps, gaps in our memory; we all lose parts of our life once in a while...no-one remembers everything”
These particular images have a more surreal bent, largely via unusual reflections yet still can be regarded as Lacunae.
