I am submitting this project called “Street Salon”. Every time I go and shoot in the street I found these street salon or the roadside barber shop very interesting.

They will generally setup in a roadside with one chair, one mirror and some basic barbers’ tools. Kolkata (India, WB) being a metro city and former Capital of India, there are lot of people come from nearby states to work , like taxi drivers, rickshaw pullers and daily workers . For them these salons are quiet essentials where they can have a haircut or shaving in only 10-15 Rupees ( = 0.2 Euro). Sometimes they can have a haircut/shaving in regular interval and paid them in monthly basis.

In the modern age where SPA and Salon business is booming , I love the way this ancient culture still co-exist in Kolkata and many city’s of India.
