Light, colors, wind: these are the ingredients Dakar is painted with, on a canvas entirely of water – it is one of the few capitals in the world almost completely surrounded by the ocean. The sea dominates the lives of many of the millions of inhabitants of this metropolis, which was a small settlement with a mere 20,000 inhabitants barely one century ago.

The Corniche, a coastal road as busy as vital, surrounds Dakar and helps the metropolis to breath, like a coronary artery encloses and supplies the heart. Moreover, the Corniche is the city’s open-air gym, where both the poor and the wealthy meet and enjoy doing sports with sunny weather all year round. This is its story.
